2-1-1/LIFE LINE is accredited by the Alliance of Information & Referral Systems as an Information & Referral Program.  Accreditation is a multi-phase process that assesses more than 200 distinct operational components providing evidence of our achievement in the areas of service quality and effectiveness, community involvement and organizational stability and the demonstrated commitment on the part of our leadership to meeting the highest standards in the field. What is Information & Referral?
Information and Referral (I&R) is the art, science and practice of bringing people and services together. When individuals, families and communities don’t know where to turn, I&R is there for them.  I&R is an integral part of the overall human services sector. I&R organizations create and maintain databases of human services and make that information available to individuals and communities through a variety of communication channels. These databases contain a detailed description of the programs and services provided by community, social, health and relevant government organizations. The information is searchable using a variety of criteria and the programs are indexed according to a hierarchical classification system. The databases are maintained by trained Resource Specialists.

At 2-1-1/LIFE LINE information and referral assistance can be reached via the telephone, email and self-service is available through search of our website database for residents of Monroe, Wayne, Livingston, Ontario, Cayuga and Seneca Counties.

The needs of our callers span the entire spectrum of life from prenatal planning to financial assistance for a funeral and the many needs in between. People who contact 2-1-1/LIFE LINE talk with trained, empathetic I&R Specialists who assess their needs in a nonthreatening, non-judgmental and confidential manner with helping them to better understand their situations so they can make informed decisions about possible solutions.

2-1-1/LIFE LINE’s staff is certified as Information & Referral Specialists through the national Alliance of Information & Referrals Systems and are also trained in crisis counseling and suicide intervention and can, when necessary, assist people who are in crisis and emergency situations.
